New to Bettersweet?  Have a general question?  Take a moment to read through our FAQ’s and you may find your answer.

“Can I stop in to see what items are available for purchase?”

No. We are a custom-order bakery, which means we only make what our clients order. On occasion, we may have a spur-of-the-moment treat available – however we appreciate you giving us a call before stopping in.

“I’ve never ordered with Bettersweet before. Where do I begin?”

The best thing for you to do is take some time and browse our website. Once you have a general idea of the product that will fit your celebration the best, visit our online order form. This form asks all the necessary questions we need answered to complete your order request.  Feel free to simply fill out this form online (after submitted, it is emailed to us), email us or give us a call 920.893.0617.

“I think I know what I want, but I have some questions before I place my order.  What should I do?”

Again, feel free to email us or give us a call 920.893.0617.  Your questions are important us, however we might not be able to answer your call/email immediately due to our volume of orders.

“How far in advance should I place my order?”

Bettersweet’s general rule of thumb is a minimum of one week prior to your celebration.  During the busy summer months and wedding season, our capacity is quickly filled each week, and you should think about placing your order 2-3 weeks prior to your celebration.  This is especially true around major holidays & graduation time.  Please remember that Bettersweet works on a first come, first serve basis.  Occasionally we can fit in last minute orders; however this is dependent completely upon our weekly schedule. You should not expect to order a cake and be able to pick it up the next day.

“I left a voicemail on Friday afternoon.  When can I expect my call to be returned?”

Simply put, Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days in the bakery. Please keep in mind during these busy days we are focusing on our orders and not usually able to answer the phone or check emails. Bettersweet is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so we return all calls and emails left during these days on Tuesdays, after 1 pm when we open again for the week.

“I have scheduled with you to pick up my cake at 10 am.  Can I come earlier?”

No. Due to the volume of orders we receive, it is imperative that we schedule a pick up time for each order. We then bake and decorate each day’s orders based on that pick up schedule. This allows us to insure that all of our products are of the finest quality and freshness to you.

“I see on your website that your Saturday hours are ‘by appointment only’.  What does this mean?”

Our weekly hours are as follows:

  • Monday Closed
  • Tuesday Closed
  • Wednesday 9-6 pm
  • Thursday 9-6 pm
  • Friday 9-6 pm
  • Saturday by appointment only
  • Sunday Closed

Saturday hours are contingent upon our wedding and event schedule. Typically from January-April, our Saturday hours are 9-3 pm. May-October we often have to change our hours as our staff is busy setting up wedding cakes and manning the Elkhart Lake farmer’s market booth. If you need an order for a Saturday, we will discuss that pick up time when you place your order.

In November and December, our hours change completely. This calendar will be posted along with our holiday menu late October.

“Where is Bettersweet located?”

“How large of cake should I order?”

Estimate how many guests will be attending your celebration.  Then visit our ‘CAKES’ tab and you will find a section on cake sizes and servings. Please keep in mind all of our serving sizes are suggestions, and generous portions at that.

“Can I order a cake or cupcakes without filling?”

No. We do not create nor offer cakes or cupcakes without filling. Bettersweet is KNOWN for the quality and taste of our creations.  Fillings not only enhance the overall flavor, but also keeps our cakes moist.

“I only need 8 cupcakes.  Why do I have to order 1 dozen?”

Simply put, we need to have order minimums to keep our costs manageable.  Because we are a custom-order only bakery and have no retail space, the extra cupcakes would become excess.

“Why is the cake I plan to order $32-36 dollars, I don’t understand this range.”

The price range allows us to adequately charge for the degree of detail or decoration needed to complete your request.  Until an order is finished, an exact price cannot be given.

 

“What is a box and packaging fee?”

All orders will incur a minimal box fee, so that we can provide you with packaging to match the high quality of the items you ordered.

“Do you offer any gluten-free or diabetic-friendly items?”

Yes.  We are continually working on new items for both of these special diets.  Please continue to watch for more information on our website.  You may also email or call for our current selection.

“Do you accept credit or debit cards?”

No.  We currently accept cash or checks payable to Bettersweet Bakery.

“Do you deliver?”

We deliver to weddings, restaurants and corporate accounts. On limited occasion, (schedule permitting), we can make local deliveries for a delivery fee.

“Do you offer any large order or corporate order discounts?”

Yes, we offer a 5% discount on orders when the product totals $250.00 or more.  This excludes weddings.

We also offer a 10% discount for all church based orders.
