It’s nearly May.  And this May, we’re celebrating FIVE years of business.  Are we going to celebrate?  You betcha!… with sweets of course [more to come on that topic].

In the meantime, we’d love for you to take a moment to refresh your memory with some of the fundamentals of ordering from your favorite custom order bakery.

~WE ARE VERY BUSY!  Please understand that we rarely can fill last minute or week of orders during late spring-late fall.  We suggest you place your order at minimum, 2 weeks in advance.  You can always ask, of course!, but understand when we are booked for the weekend, we can’t ‘squeeze’ in another order.  This allows us to focus on keeping our creations top notch!

~WE APPRECIATE YOU HONORING YOUR PICK UP TIME!  If you have arrange a 3 pm pick time [for example], we can not guarantee that your order will ready before 3.  If someone is picking your order up for you, please communicate this time to them.   Due to the volume of orders we receive, it is imperative that we schedule a pick up time for each order. We then bake and decorate each day’s orders based on that pick up schedule…. remember, our items are extremely fresh!

~IT TYPICALLY TAKES A BUSINESS DAY OR TWO FOR US TO RETURN PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS… especially if you contact us on a Friday or Saturday.  We do our best to be prompt about communication.  Planning ahead always allows for enough time for communication.  Simply put, Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days in the bakery. Please keep in mind during these busy days we are focusing on our orders and not usually able to answer the phone or check emails. Bettersweet is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so we return all calls and emails left during these days on Tuesdays, after 1 pm when we open again for the week.

~SURPLUS GOODIES IS NOT A GUARANTEE…  We love that so many of you have jumped aboard and helped us find homes for the stray pieces of cake and extra cupcakes.  It certainly gives us an opportunity to try out new recipes and receive your feedback on flavor combinations, but when we are extremely busy with our pre ordered, custom goodies and weddings [nearly 75 now for the summer/fall], we NEED to have those products as the priority of our time.  Some weeks we may just send what we have left out to the Elkhart Lake Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, and some weeks we simply do not have enough to warrant an email list.  We’ll always let you know that week’s status.

~Again, stayed tuned as we will soon reveal our plans for a 5 year anniversary celebration… what we are creating and certainly what we are giving away!

Well… hello spring! take a peek into our easter goodies menu… and a few other sweet deals!

Easter orders:
~are available for pick up on Friday 4/6 1-6 pm or Saturday 4/7 9-2 pm.

FOR SOME-BUNNY SPECIAL CUPCAKES:
These spring favorites have made it onto our menu once again! We’ve taken our best selling cupcake [french vanilla cupcakes w/ raspberry creme filling & BSB’s butter frosting] and dressed them up a bit…by adding some fresh vanilla bean to the filling and a touch of whimsy with our super cute bunny sugars. Perfect for those little sweet tooths after an egg hunt. Minimum order 1 dozen $20/dozen

CHEESECAKES TO PLEASE:
Lemon Raspberry~ A zesty vanilla-cookie like crust begins this desserts journey into the delicious. Layers of fresh raspberry and tart lemon cheesecake are finished with our fresh amaretto hinted raspberry compote. Certain to inspire mouthwatering at any Easter celebration. 9 in $36

Gingersnap Cherry~ A New York style vanilla cheesecake with a spiced buttery crust, topped with a fresh cherry compote. Hints of orange and ginger also highlight this stunning creation. 9 in $38

Triple Chocolate~ Can you truly please every type of chocolate lover in one slice? We think so, and we’ve created a beautiful cheesecake to test it out. A deep chocolate cookie crust is topped with layers of milk, white and semi sweet chocolate cheesecake and finished with a thin layer of rich, buttery chocolate gananche. Delish! 9 in $38

SPRING CAKES:

Springtime Vanilla Blueberry~  Our golden butter vanilla cake is layered with a refreshing mixture of our blueberry orange compote and sweet vanilla creme.  Finished with cream cheese frosting and cherry sugar decorations.  8in  $28

The BEST EVER Carrot Cake~ This recipe has been perfected over time with distinctive fillings and our own orange essence cream cheese frosting.  It’s been said, this cake will change your life!  8 in $32

Cannoli~  Why not try something a little different after your big holiday feast?  Imagine the favorite Italian dessert in a cake: spongy vanilla cake with the traditional ricotta & orange zest filling, specked with mini chocolate chips. Finished with a sweet whipped cream frosting.  8 in $32

Sassy Rita~  Unique and somewhat unbelievable, this combination will leave you wanting a second piece!  Strawberry cake is filled with lime champagne curd creme filling, and finished with vanilla bean butter frosting.  Finished with a touch of sea salt and light green sanding sugars… whew!  8 in $30

HOLIDAY BUILD-A-CAKE:

1. Pick your shape:  bunny or cross

2.  Pick your cake flavor: caramel chocolate chip or vanilla bean

3.  Pick your filling flavor: fudge creme, fresh strawberry creme or oreo creme

4.  Pick your frosting flavor: cream cheese or BSB’s signature butter

Serves 12-16 guests.  $28-30 [flavors listed above are from our specialty categories]. Simplistic springtime decorations will finish each cake.

EASTER EGG CUTOUTS:

We’ve come up with something a new this year using our signature sugar recipe.  Over sized egg shaped cookies are decorated with a pastel tie-dye look, and finished  with artistic lines and dots…. as if the Easter Bunny had visited himself!  Minimum order 1 dozen over sized cookies, $12/dozen.

SUNDAY BRUNCH TEA BREADS:

The perfect accompainment for your weekend brunch or a simple and elegant hostess gift.  BSB’s breads are delicious, moist and come with a decorative ribbon and label.  Minimum order 2 loaves.  $6/loaf.

Don’t let the leprechauns find your sweets!

Your friends at Bettersweet aren’t interested in cabbage or green beer. Sorry, folks, but you’ll have to find those treats somewhere else. What we are interested in, however, is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in style. As such, we’re rolling out a few special menu items for the big day, including one very special, incredible flavor of holiday cupcakes.

Orders will be accepted until Wednesday 3/14.

Holiday pick up hours:  Friday 3/16 11-6 or Saturday 3/17 9-2.

MINTED CHOCOLATE CRUNCH CAKE

Created to cure the ‘last box of girl scout cookes’ dilemma, this light chocolate cake is filled with three layers of crème and crunch. Finished with a striking pale green frosting and even more cookie crunch. 8in $29

SHAMROCK CAKE

French vanilla cake tinted green, creamy oreo filling & BSB’s butter frosting. St. Pat’s decorations finishes this incredibly kid friendly treat. $26

POT-O-GOLD CUPCAKES

~irish cream cupcakes with chocolate kahlua crème filling & BSB’s butter frosting.

Our signature deep chocolate cake partners with the strong, dark flavors of Guinness to create a culinary masterpiece… in oversized cupcake form.  Frosted with a  ganache-whipped frosting makes these treats truly ‘delish’. Box of 4 oversized in ‘fancy’ papers $11.  Minimum order 1 box.

The Nameless Cake: French vanilla cake layered with our signature raspberry and fresh vanilla bean crèmes.  Finished with our butter frosting and white chocolate shavings.

Uncle Bob’s Red Velvet Cake: overflowing with color and flavor, this light cocoa cake is layered with specialty fillings including our semi-sweet crème, hints of sugared ground almonds and rich European chocolate garnishing. Simply stunning.

TIRAMISU:

Our recipe has been remastered & named our staff’s favorite.  Words have not yet been created to describe our version of this Italian favorite.    8×8 pan $25

Looking for something special? Our snowy sweet hot cocoa jar mix is back by request!  Each festively decorated glass jar comes with homemade heart shaped peppermint marshmallows.
